Day 2

Lake Elementaita

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the pristine paradise, Soysambu Conservancy, spreading from the flamingo-fringed shores of Lake Elmenteita, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Across golden savannah plains, through deep-green forests, and into mysterious gray volcanic hills, it is an undiscovered ecological haven. The lake’s lava islands provide East Africa’s only breeding grounds for the Great White Pelican, while its blue-green alkaline waters attract vast flocks of coral pink flamingos. An undiscovered wilderness only recently opened to the public, the conservancy provides sanctuary for over 15,000 creatures, including large herds of endangered Rothschild giraffes. Intimate and exclusive, it is sheltered by acacia groves and offers long views down the flamingo-fringed reaches of the lake. Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp has been styled to echo the richness of Soysambu’s past. After lunch at the camp, embark on an afternoon game drive around the Soysambu Conservancy.

Lake Elementaita - Lake Nakuru National Park - Lake Elementaita

After breakfast, you will depart to Lake Nakuru National Park. On arrival you will have a game drive en route to the lodge. Compact in size, but high in wildlife, this park makes the ideal day trip, en route to other destinations and abounds in picturesque lookouts and picnic spots. As Kenya’s first and largest rhino sanctuary, sightings of both black and white rhino are almost guaranteed, while plentiful waterbuck, warthog, zebra, gazelle, and buffalo graze the shoreline. Echoing the haunting cries of the many fish eagles, this is also the park in which you have the best chance of seeing a leopard.
Stop for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge as we continue to a short game drive before returning to Lake Elementaita.

Technically an extension of Tanzania’s renowned Serengeti National Park, the Mara makes up only 4% of the entire Serengeti ecosystem, but its rolling grasslands, meandering rivers, and towering escarpments offer one of the world’s most rewarding and evocative wildlife arenas. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as existed a century ago. Spend the afternoon on a game drive as you watch a famous Kenya sunset with the local animals.

Meals: Breakfast

The activity Level for this tour is:

Day 7

Masai Mara Balloon Safari (05:00 am)
At dawn we take off, rising as the sun rises and float whichever direction the winds of the morning take us. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below. At other times our pilot may ascend to 1000 ft or more to see the enormity and wonderful panorama of the Masai Mara. From time to time the pilot must put more heat into the balloon with the powerful whisper burners. In between these burns, there is silence apart from the natural sounds below.
The flight is for about one hour depending on conditions, and eventually, you must land. You celebrate in the traditional manner with champagne (well, an excellent sparkling wine) before sitting down to a full English breakfast prepared and served in the bush in “Out of Africa” style.
After breakfast, you meet up with your safari driver ready to continue your day’s activities.
Masai Village - Masai Mara
Find yourself in the midst of the daily hustle and bustle of local life as you witness the daily rituals of the Maasai. Once you have drunk your fill of this authentic cultural experience, you can choose to browse through the Maasai Craft Centre and purchase artefacts made by the people you encountered. All proceeds from this go directly to the community.
